On August 17th, adventurous photographers around the world synchronized their watches to Greenwich Mean Time and upon 17:17GMT (and seventeen seconds), snapped a single photograph of their own design. The result was a planet frozen. The progress of the sun, weather patterns, architectural stylings, and ideas varying from time zone to time zone, we created a single moment that existed outside the boundaries of time and region, existing only on pixels and silver halide.

Why 17:17:17? No particular significance, I just thought 17 was a good, pointy number. Easy for people to remember. Is it too late to take a photo? Well, yes, but perhaps we'll organize another one of these shindigs later on. Email me if you have interests in these sorts of things. Have you taken a photo of 17:17:17 and forgot to submit it? Fret not, this page shall continue to update as submissions come in. A note about the map below, when the photos were taken, many regions were practicing Daylight Savings, pushing their GMT time zone forward. The map is presented in standard, non-Daylight Savings format to keep confusion of practicing and non-practicing area shifting to a minimum.
